Ok so I have a situation. Should I sell Shadow? I would just give her back to her previous owner as he gave her to me for free so I wont have to worry about finding her a good home.
If I dont sell her I'll have to pay $3600 a year for board. I wont even be able to compete in reining with her. I'd make her a jumper but I'd need lots of lessons, new tack and attire and show clothes when we're good enough. She'll get moved to Thunder Bay in November and I wont see her until the end of January. She'll get really fat and will need 2 months riding before I can even start english (so the saddle will fit). Its just so much money to spend on something I'm not 100% crazy about. I love Shadow but all the money comes right out of my pocket. I'm not some rich kid whos daddy pays for everything. I've worked SO hard and its just beating me down. I got what I wanted. I got a horse, I win competitions, but the road to getting there has worn down my passion for it. It was about 16 months ago when I first started feeling like riding was a chore. I feel like I've missed out on a lot because all I've done for the past 2 years is work and train. Mabey its time for me to just have some fun. I really dont know what to do. I mean, I'm 17, I'd like a car, I'll be going to college which is expensive and time consuming. I dont know if a horse is what I want right now.
Your advice and opinions would be greatly appretieated.

Selling Shadow would probably be the most practical thing to do, but I know youre probably pretty attached to her. It would just take SO much work and training to get her from being a reiner to a jumper, and you dont even know whether she will be good at it or not. If you give her back then someone else can use her for reining and you can take lessons in jumping while still having fun and enjoying life. Whatever you choose though, im sure it will be a good decision.

Brian has someone interested in her. Part of the agreement of me getting her for free was that her previous owners would have first dibs so my mom is going to talk to them and see if they want her back or if they'll let us sell her and take half the money.
