I'm not too picky, but I really like geldings because they're even tempered and don't get moody! lol Gotta love those moody mares.....

I think Stalliosn should be an option to. I pick mares. I have a very strong distaste for geldings and I'm not sure why. Theres nothing in particular that I dislike, I just all around dont like the idea of gelding a horse. Geldings are sweet but I've found stallions to be just as sweet. Stallions are usually more aggressive about being ridden and are more of a challenge to train and ride than geldings are. I picked mares mainly becasue I'm not a gelding fan. I dont mind the moodiness. I dont have a really strong lovey-dovey connection. My horse doesn't want me to touch her or talk her her or be around her and that doesn't bother me one bit. We have mutual respect for one another but not much of a bond. But thats alright with me, because at the end of the day, its competing that does it for me, not the regular riding. I dont care if horses dont like me as long as they have respect for me.

I'm completly different than that. I want to be able to go out to my horse when i'm down and pet him/her and talk to 'em. My last mare wasn't affectionate at all, and that bothered me, because I couldn't really bond with her. I rode her, fed her etc. but I could never really pet her or love her, she would always turn away. I want to have a strong bond with my horse. Thats why I love having a dog. My dog loves attention and is always wanting to please me. We have a really good bond.

Its nice to have an affectionate horse for sure, but its not something that I rank high importance ing a horse. If I want to pet a horse, I've got a pick of friendl;y horses at the barn who will gladly let me pet them. If I'm down and want to hug my horse I will. She pins her ears teh whole time but I just face away from her head. She wont walk away, she just pins her ears

lol Yeah, the mare I leased wouldn't pin her ears or be annoyed or anything. She just didn't care. She had NO personality and was always dum dee dum. She was a little odd! haha I know that not all mares are like that though. At the barn that I work at they have some very nice and loving mares and broodmares that are very affectionate.

I know, theres one broodmare at the barn whos my fav. Her name is Bopinic and shes so sweet and SOOOOOO soft. I've never felt a horse that soft before in my life! Shes the one I typically pet if I want to pet one.

Ya, they deffintaly are...well, most of them.
Theres one broodmare named Kitkat and she has a palomino filly this year, I call her flash. Well they put them in teh pasture for a while cuz well, I wouldn't want to be 2 horses sharing 1 stall all day. Flash is SOO curious its adorable. She'll actually let you pet her face like a grown horse whos use to it. All the other foals I've seen you have to hold your hand out and wait for them to see what it is. Then they just kinda nudge it and if you more your hand it'll fun away. But shes totally different. Anyways, no the point. I went to go visit them in the pasture and (this was in like May btw) they were about 6 feet from the gait. I stood there and Flash was kinda looking at me as if she was unsure wheather she should come see me with her momma so far away. Then kitkat booted her in the butt with her face pushing her towards me. So I guess she figured it was ok if her mom was pushing her towards me, and came over.

Thats So cute. I love palomino's.
any way I Love proud cut geldings (even though I would NEVER perposly do that to them) but all the proud cuts encluding baby (not sure if hes proud cut or if he has just a little to must tetostrone(sp) flowing through his body LOL) that I have seen or rode they are calm but I love how they come off with a little of that preppy or look at me type of attitude.
and I love at how they can act like a stallion at times but not all the time.
